A leading eDiscovery technology and consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC is looking for a Director of Complex Investigations in the eDiscovery space to focus on designing and implementing client-specific solutions throughout the EDRM.

The qualified candidate should have extensive experience with Relativity workflows supporting complex litigation, investigation, and anti-trust projects. We take a consultative approach in working with our clients and managing cases and an extensive knowledge of the full EDRM, legal case management, and litigation lifecycle is important. This role demands a strong leader who can partner effectively with all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will embrace innovative workflows to support the Project Management team's workflow (tasks, project milestones, & key dependencies) and resource needs within and across teams. They will communicate and coach on the effective use of processes and tools to support complex litigation matters. In addition, they will identify and qualify project related risks, issues, scope changes and assist in their tracking using defined processes.

The Director of Complex Investigations is accountable with Operation and Project Management leadership for the project schedule by overseeing our Project Managers on high-revenue, high-profile or high-risk projects as identified by the business.

This position includes working with a variety of internal & external team members including Forensics, Operations, Project Managers, Business Development, attorneys, company or government representatives, and other legal staff.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Project Initiation: Assist at the inception of a new matter by assisting in the development of project workflows, ensuring cross-company coordination, and developing cost and time forecasts.
  • Client Support and Management: Communicate with clients on company practices and standard processes, act as the first point of escalation for client issues and coordinate problem resolution with internal and external stakeholders and otherwise assist, as needed, in account management activities (e.g., client service audits and relationship building activities).
  • Research & Development: Participate in efforts to identify, design and implement new and enhanced service offerings.  Such activities may include participation in ideation sessions and/or providing subject matter expertise on client services in product design.
  • Collaboration: Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining standardized processes for our organization to support complex, large-scale eDiscovery projects and ensure the cross functional teams can support them.
  • Create and manage workflows to ensure the team can run concurrent, complex eDiscovery and litigation projects within the Relativity document review platform from processing through review and production.
  • Create executive level presentations for workflows, technical solutions and business cases, as necessary.
  • Consultative mindset and a methodical approach to operational or technical challenges in the delivery of projects.
  • Clearly present solutions and key project status updates to multiple levels of stakeholders within the organization.
  • Independently and proactively provide consultation tailored to fit the specific needs of clients and cases by recommending and developing custom workflows through the full scope of the EDRM.
  • Use industry standard processes to facilitate data collections, ECA workflows, data reuse and repository workflows, document reviews, and document productions.
  • Expertise in working with both traditional data sources such as email and modern data sources such as cloud storage providers, mobile devices, and short message data.
  • Provide sales workflow/engineering support to business development team.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS degree or minimum 7 years in the litigation support / legal industry.
  • 5+ years Relativity administrator experience with expertise in the litigation support industry including evolution of product offerings and changing dynamics/expectations
  • Relativity Certified Administrator or Relativity Master
  • Experience communicating effectively & tactfully both verbally and in written format to all relevant technical & non-technical stakeholders including attorneys, client support staff, and internal team members
  • Expertise of the electronic discovery reference model (EDRM), the litigation lifecycle or experience managing litigations.
  • Ability to demonstrate superior organizational skills, to include task management tracking, RACI and GANTT charts with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in time-sensitive situations and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines,
  • Experience troubleshooting applications and communicating results to support and client teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple, concurrent projects involving cross-functional teams within budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client expectations and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and effectively delegate workflow tasks, including teams of supporting project managers.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to anticipate client needs.
