A leading eDiscovery technology and consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC is looking for a qualified and experienced Director of Digital Forensics. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the high-quality delivery of the company’s forensics service offering and successful fulfillment of the clients’ requirements.  Specifically, this position is responsible for development and resource management, supervision and quality assurance, and maintaining business routines across the Forensics’ Team while personally executing forensic data collections and analysis, both on-site and remote.  We are seeking a motivated individual with strong leadership skills, experience in the legal and technology fields, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch service to clients. Additionally, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office presence at our primary office in Washington, DC, where our forensics lab and data center are located.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Oversee a team leading a portfolio of matters through all aspects of the forensics’ lifecycle including development of workflows for emerging data, budget and estimates, communications and feedback, resource allocation, and client delivery and reporting.
  • Display a deep understanding of client needs and priorities as they relate to forensic workflows, leveraging experience to anticipate potential challenges and adapting workflows to continually changing circumstances.
  • In partnership and collaboration with the Executive Team, provide leadership and oversight of the team, including managing team utilization, team scheduling, onboarding, training needs and serving as a primary point of escalation.
  • Manage and perform forensic data collections and analysis in both on-site and remote capacity.
  • Oversee and support the team in effective collaboration with project management and other internal departments to complete complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Guide and assist the team in developing, documenting, and refining procedures to achieve industry-standard best practices.
  • Ensure all chain of custody best practices are executed based on the rules of evidence for the team.
  • Provide department vision through keeping apprised of emerging data sources, process improvement, innovation, leadership, and industry trends.
  • Assist sales team by attending meetings to understand client’s forensic needs and craft custom solutions.
  • Generate and distribute reporting metrics and KPI's to your assigned team members weekly.
  • Responsible for ensuring the performance review process is conducted across your team.
  • Advance the marketplace reputation of Contact Discovery Services by speaking at seminars/conferences/webinars, authoring thought leadership materials, and active participation in relevant industry trade groups.
  • Drive forensic technology and Contact Discovery Services strategic initiatives including the usage of new technology and techniques, enhanced processes, and procedures, and thought leadership.
  • Testify as an expert witness regarding forensic methods, findings, and the integrity of forensic workflows as necessary.
  • Prepare and write formal attestations, detailed reports and/or presentations to support court requirements when deemed necessary.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science or Computer Science/Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in where the candidate understands the forensic lifecycle and can properly perform scoping activities, evidence acquisitions on a range of devices, and execute forensic analysis at an expert level
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in related roles and 5 years experience with ‘Leadership Responsibilities’
  • Possess at least one industry standard certification (EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, CCME, etc.)
  • Experience using industry standard forensic tools such as Cellebrite, Axiom, EnCase, Relativity Collect, FTK Imager, Logicube Falcon, and Metaspike FEC
  • In-depth understanding of Apple (Mac)/Windows filesystems, mobile devices, and encryption
  • Experience forensically preserving desktops, laptops, mobile devices/tablets, servers, both cloud and on-premise email implementations, non-traditional cloud data sources, social media, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in both verbally and in written format to technical/non-technical clients and team members
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary to manage team and client deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate superior organizational skills with an acute attention to detail
  • Ability to document forensic workflows based on sound industry practice
  • Must be willing to travel on short notice based on client need; must have valid passport for occasional international travel
  • Must be an energetic self-starter who can work within a team environment but also independently as the situation requires
  • Strong troubleshooting skills coupled with the ability to solution on the fly to solve complex problems

THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
  • Understanding of the electronic discovery reference model (EDRM)
  • Knowledge of litigation support applications (e.g. Relativity, Nuix, Google Workspace including Vault, Microsoft 365 including Purview, etc.)
  • Experience working with structured data exported from various platforms including analysis, custom scripting, and data manipulation to develop reports for client use
  • Understanding of (Robo/Rich) copy tools, BAT (PowerShell) scripting, and Active Directory permissions
  • Experience with scripting, programming/coding, database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access, etc.)

SALARY RANGE: $140,000 - $175,000
